Aspen Fire Protection District performs wildfire mitigation work on private property at no cost to the owner. Before crews can begin, we need written authorization from the property owner or their authorized representative.

This form gives Aspen Fire permission to access your property and perform that work. It takes a few minutes to complete.

What this covers

Mitigation work may include tree thinning and selective vegetation removal, brush and shrub reduction, chainsaw crews, vegetation management equipment, temporary brush piles, and removal and processing of woody material. Aspen Fire determines the type and extent of work based on program parameters, budget, and available resources. We may bring in independent contractors for portions of the work.

Before you sign

This is a legal agreement. Along with granting property access, it includes a release of liability, an acknowledgment that mitigation reduces wildfire risk but cannot guarantee protection, and provisions on insurance, indemnity, and governing law. Please read the full document carefully. If you have questions about the terms, contact us before signing — we're happy to walk through it.

What happens next

1. Check your email and verify. Click the link in the verification email to confirm and finalize your signature.

2. You'll receive a signed copy. Once verified, a completed copy is sent to both you and Aspen Fire for our records.

3. A team member will reach out. Someone from our wildland team will contact you to schedule an assessment and discuss timing. You'll know before crews arrive.
